Epic fantasy with fierce found family and worlds worth saving — high on heart, low on spice

Welcome to the official website of Lisa Cassidy — epic fantasy author

I write epic fantasy about people becoming who they’re meant to be — usually with their world coming apart around them, a found family they didn’t ask for, and just enough romantic tension to ache without ever taking over the story. If you love political scheming, wyvern bonds, magical academies, and found family that will break your heart and then put it back together again, you’re in the right place.

I write both young adult and adult epic fantasy across five series.

The Mage Chronicles and Heir to the Darkmage are my YA series, set in a world of mages, Taliath warriors, and lots of magic. Expect magical academies, slow-burn everything, and a nickname — mage-girl — that will ruin you by book four.

A Tale of Stars and Shadow and The Inkweaver Archive are my adult series. A grieving warrior arrives in a kingdom divided between winged folk and humans, and finds healing and redemption among a small group of the country’s rejects — the ones nobody else wanted. Meanwhile, in Inkweaver, a nameless outsider bonds with a golden wyvern and discovers that destiny can’t be chosen. More intrigue, more stakes, and more found family that you’ll want to take home for your own.

And then there’s Book of the Doomshroud — but if you’ve read the other series, you already know why that one’s different. If you haven’t: start there last. Trust me.

Not sure where to begin? The reading order page has you covered. And if you’re already here for the bonus content, to sign up for my Dock City Chronicle, or to learn about my Inkweaver community — welcome.

I can’t wait to have you on the adventure with me,

Lisa

Quick FAQs

What kind of fantasy books does Lisa Cassidy write (love talking about myself in the third person)?
I write twisty epic fantasy filled with magic, political intrigue, wyverns, found family themes, and strong female leads — with very slow burn romantic subplots.

What’s the best reading order for Lisa’s series?
If you’re a younger reader (or young at heart), I’d start with The Mage Chronicles, followed by its direct sequel Heir to the Darkmage. For adult fantasy readers, begin with either A Tale of Stars and Shadow or The Inkweaver Archive — both are great entry points. Once you’ve read those, Book of the Doomshroud (beginning with Call of the Shadow Rift) is the place to go next. Trust me on this one.

Where can I buy Lisa’s books?
You can support me by shopping directly from my online bookstore, or you can get eBooks, paperbacks or audiobooks from any of your favourite retailers.

Can I get merchandise from Lisa’s books?
Absolutely! You can explore my merchandise store for exclusive goodies at anytime.

What is Lisa’s latest book?
I’m currently working on a brand new series: Book of the Doomshroud. The first book – Call of the Shadow Rift — is out on 19 June 2026. Full details on the series page.
